SÃO PAULO (WiMAX Day). The Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (Anatel) last week confirmed that licenses for 3.5 GHz WiMAX spectrum will be allocated at auction in in the first quarter of 2008. The process of auctioning these spectrum licenses has been delayed for the last year. An Anatel spokesman said that previous problems caused by the method of pricing the licenses soon will be resolved in the Court of Accounts. Despite these delays, the president of Anatel, Ronaldo Sardenberg, said emphatically, “the WiMAX auction will proceed!”
