LONDON (WiMAX Day). Juniper Research issued a report this week that forecasts mobile WiMAX subscibers will grow to 80 million by the year 2013. By comparison, the report noted that the 3G technology HSPA currently has 11.5 million subscribers. According to Howard Wilcox, author of the report, “Mobile WiMAX will represent a single digit proportion of the global mobile broadband base by 2013. This will be a tremendous achievement for this new technology platform which has recently been boosted by the ITU’s (International Telecommunication Union’s) endorsement of it as an IMT2000 specification.” Juniper predict that this market growth will result in revenue of “more than $23 billion a year by 2013.”
