MEXICO CITY (WiMAX Day). The shareholders of Telmex, the Mexican telecom giant, approved a proposal to spin-off its international operations into a new company to be called Telmex Internacional. It will include the Telmex subsidiaries in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador and Peru. According to documents filed earlier this month with the Securities and Exchange Commission in America, Telmex Internacional will have assets of over US$11 billion, which includes fixed-line and cable networks, as well as the WiMAX networks that Telmex has been building in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Columbia.
