LAS VEGAS (WiMAX Day). The WiMAX silicon designer, Runcom Technologies Ltd, announced today a partnership with OKI Electric Industry, Co, Ltd, and Alpine Electronics Inc, two of Japan’s leading electronics manufacturers. At the CES 2008 convention today in Las Vegas, the companies will demonstrate “the world’s first car navigation system with streaming content based on Mobile WiMAX technology.” According to a press release, the companies have developed an on-board vehicle navigations system that utilises mobile WiMAX. Using embedded mobile WiMAX chips, the system is designed to upload road maps, and location-based information.
