PARIS (WiMAX Day). The French chipset designer Sequans Communications will collaborate with ZyXEL, the Taiwanese equipment manufacturer, to create an “advanced Mobile WiMAX device” which will see its debut on Sprint’s Xohm network later this year. According to a Sequans press release, the device “is an integrated access design that will enable Sprint to offer its Xohm Internet mobile services.”

Both Sequans and ZyXEL are partners in Sprint’s WiMAX ecosystem. In a prepared statement, Bin Shen, VP of broadband for Sprint Nextel, said “The ZyXEL and Sequans device collaboration is helping us to meet time-to-market and service innovation requirements…. we are delighted to have the leading edge ZyXEL device debut with our Xohm network.”
