Airspan wins contract in Jordan

AMMAN (WiMAX Day). Airspan Networks has been selected by ACT Limited to deploy a WiMAX network in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. According to a press release, a nationwide network is now being deploy, and will utilise the 3.6 GHz frequencies that ACT acquired last year. ACT is a joint venture between Qatar Telecom (Qtel) Q.S.C. and A.A. Turki Corporation for Trading and Contracting (ATCO) of Saudi Arabia. The joint venture between Qtel and ATCO is a part of strategy to jointly develop and operate Broadband Wireless Access services, including WiMAX and other complementary services, in markets covering the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
