MEXICO CITY (WiMAX Day). Axtel, the fixed-line telco, announced last week that it has selected Motorola to supply equipment for a deployment of a WiMAX network in Mexico. Axtel said in a press release that Motorola will supply the company with base stations, network equipment, PCMCIA cards and CPEs. Build-out if the network has already begun in the cities of Monterrey, Puebla and Guadalajara, and when fully constructed by year-end will support Axtel’s “convergence strategy of providing fixed and mobile telecommunications services on a single network.”
