NEW DELHI (WiMAX Day). The Indian telecom operator BSNL has selected Soma Networks to provide the equipment for a massive three-year deployment of a WiMAX network in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Goa. According to a press release, the first stage of the network will be built in Ahmedabad by July this year. The contract is made on the basis of a revenue share between the parties. Soma managing director Jatinder Ahuja said that the company would provide equipment based on 802.16e-2005 standard.
