MOSCOW (WiMAX Day). The Russian telecoms giant Comstar UTS announced last week that it has begun to build a mobile WiMAX network in Armenia. Comstar will build the network using equipment supplied by Airspan Networks. According to a Comstar press release, the network will cover 76% of the Armenian population, first in Yerevan, the capital, and then to another eighteen cities. “We intend to launch the network this year and, therefore, become the first and the largest wireless broadband Internet operator in Armenia,” said Sergei Pridantsev, president of Comstar.
