Group forms to accelerate mobile WiMAX in UK

BARCELONA (WiMAX Day). The Mobile WiMAX Acceleration Group (M-WAG), a collaboration of companies demonstrating the business case for the use of mobile WiMAX, has unveiled plans for a mobile WiMAX pilot network (over 2.5GHz) in Maidstone, Kent. M-WAG will conduct multi-application user trials using mobile WiMAX over 7.5 square kilometers from the centre of Maidstone; home to over 75,000 people and 4,500 businesses. M-WAG member companies will provide all network equipment (conforming to IEEE Standard 802.16e where relevant) and service integration. The pilot is scheduled to go live in April, but specifics on it have not yet been released.
