AMSTERDAM (WiMAX Day). Alcatel-Lucent announced that it has been selected by Worldmax in the Netherlands to build a commercial WiMAX network using 802.16e equipment. Worldmax has a license for 3.5 GHz spectrum in the Netherlands.
In a prepared statement, Jeanine van der Vlist, CEO Worldmax, said “We selected Alcatel-Lucent after a stringent search and are confident that Alcatel-Lucent is the right partner to deploy such an innovative network. We were looking for a flexible solution, which is easy to deploy and expand as our business grows. Alcatel-Lucent has proven to be the right partner for all our needs based on their track record worldwide.”
Alcatel-Lucent has signed 22 commercial contracts for deployment of WiMAX networks since the beginning of 2007, and has 70 pilot projects and deployments across the world.
