BOCA RATON (WiMAX Day). The WiMAX equipment supplier Airspan Networks announced several new contracts last week. The company said that it will continue to supply its MacroMAX base stations and CPEs to Ulusnet in Mongolia. Ulusnet (a subsidiary of Mobicom) is deploying a WiMAX network in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, operating on a 3.5 GHz frequency band. Airspan’s MicroMAX base stations and CPEs also were chosen by Russian operator Enforta to deploy their WiMAX network “to offer Internet access and virtual area network solutions to its growing customer base,” said a company press release. In Ecuador, Airspan said that it has been awarded a follow-on contract from PuntoNet, an ISP that has deployed a WiMAX network in eight major cities using Airspan’s MicroMAX platform, and this year will expand its network to an additional six cities.
