ROME (WiMAX Day). The auction of 3.5 GHz WiMAX licenses in Italy completed its seventh round of bidding on Friday. The Ministry of Communications confirmed that bidding for the licenses reached €123 million EUR. The original offers for the spectrum began at €49.6 million EUR which began on February 13. During the last week several contenders have withdrawn from the auction, including Wind Telecom, Fastweb and Media PA. The Ministry said that the auction will resume tomorrow, February 26.
