A WiMAX trek through Vietnam

SAPA (WiMAX Day). In the northern Vietnamese province of Lao Cai this weekend, the 258 kilometre “Racing The Planet Vietnam” concluded after six days. The event, sponsored by Intel Corp, attracted over 100 participants from 21 countries who trekked for six days to raise funds for children living in the mountainous areas of Lao Cai. During the event, communication was provided via a WiMAX network donated by Intel. According to Kiêu Linh Vu, director of public relations at Intel Vietnam, the WiMAX connection also allowed participants to keep in touch with their families. The winner of the trek, Stephanie Case, from Vancouver, Canada, kept her blog updated throughout the trek using the WiMAX connection.
