WiMAX to connect schools in Tunisia

TUNIS (WiMAX Day). In Tunisia yesterday, the Department of Education and Training signed an agreement with Telecom Tunisia to launch the National Education Network (EDUNET2). The initiative will upgrade the telecommunications capacity at 6,500 public education institutions, including high schools, colleges, and primary training centres. At a press conference, Ahmed Mahjoub, president and CEO of Tunisia Telecom, said “We have made this important project one of our top priorities.” According to Nizar Yaiche, executive director of Telecom Tunisia, the new network will utilise WiMAX technology to connect the schools to a new data transmission network, and also will use ADSL links where available.
