JOHANNESBURG (WiMAX Day). In South Africa last week, the telecommunications company Sentech received a capital increase of ZAR 500 million (USD 66 million) from the South African government. Sentech, a state-owned company, originally announced the funding last year. According to a report in Business Day, the company said that it finally received the funds which will allow it to build a WiMAX network. The next step remains to be seen. “The board is still in discussions with the minister (Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri) and the communications department to agree on the business model that Sentech will implement,” a Sentech executive was quoted in the report.
