HOD HASHARON (WiMAX Day). The fabless chip designer Altair Semiconductor announced this week the release a mobile WiMAX baseband processor for handheld devices. According to an Altair press release, the ALT2150 is “the world’s smallest and most power-efficient mobile WiMAX processor,” and implements mobile WiMAX Wave-2 PHY and MAC functionality. The chipset also boasts a patent pending “Extreme Low Power technology.”
