Airspan Networks announced on Friday that it has been awarded a contract from Wightcable to provide equipment for an isle-wide WiMAX network.Wightcable is the incumbent cable operator and plan to expand their business by offering voice and data services. In a prepared statement, Ian Renshaw, Chief Executive of Wightcable, said “As the only telecommunication and cable services provider on the island, we believe that the transition to WiMAX is the right strategy for Wightcable and its customers.”
