TAIPEI (WiMAX Day). According to a report in DigiTimes, First International Telecom (Fitel), the Taiwanese WiMAX license holder, has raised TWD 810 million (USD 26.3 million) through a private placement of 90 million shares. Proceeds from the capital increase will be used to finance the build-out of Fitel’s WiMAX network in Northern Taiwan. The report said that according to Fitel president Charlie Wu, the company intends to raise an additional TWD 2 billion (USD 65 million) through the sale of share to foreign investors.
