Buzz boldly blathers in Bangkok

BANGKOK (WiMAX Day). Garth Freeman, the CEO of Buzz Broadband, aired his dirty laundry at a conference in Bangkok last week. According to a report in Commsday, Freeman said that WiMAX technology is a “disaster.”  Freeman said the technology was lacking in performance and had latency issues. Airspan Networks, which provided the WiMAX equipment for Buzz, responded to these statements yesterday and said that Buzz suffered “significant under-provisioning issues in the core network which connected the Airspan equipment to the Internet.” It would seem that the small ISP did not have enough money to install a proper network, and thus it was the “poor network architecture decisions” at Buzz that caused problems for the company and its 200 customers.
