BUCHAREST (WiMAX DAY). In February, the Romanian government said that it would commit to auction two licenses for 3.5 GHz WiMAX spectrum later this year. At a recent press conference in Bucharest, Didier Lombard, France Telecom Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, told reporters that Orange will bid for one of the WiMAX licenses in Romania, and stated that WiMAX is a part of the company’s expansion plans. Romania is an important market for Orange, as the company reached a milestone of 10 million subscribers.
