Alcatel-Lucent will build WiMAX in Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS (WiMAX Day). Alcatel-Lucent announced today that it has been selected by Craig Wireless to build a WiMAX network based on the IEEE 802.16e WiMAX standard in Palm Springs, California. The network will operate using 2.5 GHZ frequencies. According to an Alcatel-Lucent press release, this is the first deployment of the company’s WiMAX technology in North America. Craig Wireless will receive A-L’s end-to-end WiMAX solution, including base stations, wireless access controllers and an operation and maintenance center (OMC), amongst other services. Craig Wireless owns and leases licenses for WiMAX spectrum in Canada, America, Greece, Norway and New Zealand.
