Intel and Telefonica sign strategic agreement

MIAMI (WiMAX Day). Telefonica, the international telecommunications group, and Intel Corporation announced today that they have signed an agreement to collaborate on several initiatives that will “expand the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) and broadband Internet access for consumers and businesses in Latin America.” Amongst the initiatives will include the support of Intel for the launch of WiMAX networks by Telefonica in selected countries. “Through the joint efforts between Intel and Telefónica, we are expanding the possibilities for businesses in the region, but also accelerating the access to technology and a variety of connectivity solutions, providing more opportunity for improved communication, education and better quality of life,” said Ricardo Carreon, director of Intel Latin America, in a prepared statement.
