HANOVER (WiMAX Day). Lockheed Martin has recently opened a Wireless Cyber Security Centre. The laboratory is a controlled and classified environment that is dedicated to testing the security of wireless technologies. According to a company press release, the lab will provide test and evaluation facilities for testing WiMAX, WiFi, GSM, CDMA and other technologies to defence and intelligence agencies. “Wireless networks offer a tremendous leap forward in flexibility and throughput, but they also represent a significant security challenge,” said Bob Eastman, Lockheed Martin Vice President, Information Systems. The testing lab has been certified as a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) network, and all wireless signals and their transmissions remain inside a sealed and re-inforced test chamber at the lab.
