NEW YORK (WiMAX Day). With rapid growth in WiMAX expected for the next few years, research firm IDC reports that it expects WiMAX semiconductor revenue to reach USD 480 million in 2008, and grow to USD 1.2 billion in 2012. Sales for 2008 are being driven by the need for chips in base stations and CPEs, and future growth will come from embedded WiMAX chips in laptops and consumer electronics devices.
