TAIPEI (WiMAX Day). A report in Reuters said that the Japanese company Fujitsu estimates that it will have sales of WiMAX chips of nearly USD 1 billion by April 2011. According to Makoto Awaga, general manager of Fujitsu’s microchip unit, the efficient use of power consumption is now mission critical for WiMAX chipsets, and will be one of the main drivers for Fujitsu’s WiMAX chipset business. The Reuters report noted that the target of JPY 100 billion for WiMAX chip sales would represent roughly two percent of Fujitsu’s total revenues in the year to March 2008.
