PARIS (WiMAX Day). Alcatel-Lucent announced that it will work with Thailand’s telecoms leader, True Corporation, to launch a WiMAX trial. Alcatel-Lucent will provide True with WiMAX base stations, CPEs and other equipment required to run a network on a 2.5 GHz frequency. According to an Alcatel-Lucent press release, the trial will take place in the Phatumthanee, outside of Bangkok. Thiti Nantapatsiri, Managing Director Home/Consumer Solution & High Speed Access, True Corporation, said in a prepared statement that “with more than 12.5 million mobile subscribers and 570,000 wireline broadband customers under the True Group, we hope to further propel the concept of today’s convergence lifestyle with the addition of WiMAX broadband services.”
