ROME (WiMAX Day). Alcatel-Lucent announced that it has been selected by Linkem Spa to provide a “turn-key” WiMAX network in the Lazio region of Italy. Linkem is one of Italy’s leading providers of wireless broadband access, and holds licenses to 3.5 GHz spectrum in 13 regions of Italy. According to an Alcatel-Lucent press release, the company will first launch a WiMAX network with Linkem in the city of Terracina, and all network technology will be based on the IEEE 802.16e standard. “We trust Alcatel-Lucent’s unique ability to provide the entire set of required technologies and services- from consulting, to design of end-to-end network solutions, to deployment, and operations and support – to help us evaluate and deploy a WiMAX solution that meets our high expectations,” said Davide Rota, CEO of Linkem.
