AMSTERDAM (WiMAX Day). At the WiMAX Forum Global Congress in Amsterdam, several companies have announced this week that their products have been certified for mobile WiMAX operating at 2.5 GHz.
Airspan Networks has received WiMAX Forum certification for its MiMAX Q-Series USB Mobile WiMAX subscriber terminal. This device is a quad-band USB that can be used for laptop and desktop computers to provide connectivity to a WiMAX network. The device is certified for use in the 2.5 GHz frequency band, and also will operate in other frequencies up to 5 GHz.
For base stations, Alvarion announced that it has received certification for its 802.16e BreezeMAX 2.5 GHz base station, and Motorola also announced that it received certification for its WiMAX WAP 25400 base station, compliant with 2.5 GHz frequencies.
For semiconductors, Beceem announced that its BCS200 chipset received WiMAX Forum certification for operation in 2.5 GHz equipment, and Sequans Communications was awarded a certification for both its base station and subscriber station mobile WiMAX 2.5 GHz reference designs.
