TEL AVIV (WiMAX Day). The Ministry of Communications in Israel said it has approved two trial WiMAX networks to be launched by MIRS, the mobile phone network owned by Motorola. According to Ariel Attias, the Minister of Communications, “the experiment will allow [MIRS] to utilize the advantages of this innovative technology for the benefit of the residents of the region.” Testing is expected to prove the the viability of WiMAX for mobile broadband use, and also will be tested for its capacity for video communications and monitoring, as well as for emergencies.
