Clearwire reports strong Q2 earnings performance

KIRKLAND (WiMAX Day). Clearwire Corporation released strong Q2 operating results today. In a press statement the company said that its service revenue for the second quarter of 2008 increased to USD 58.6 million, re-affirming its overall revenue target for 2008 of up to USD 215 million. In its initial markets, Clearwire also reported positive market EBITDA. Additionally, its consolidated ARPU increased to USD 39.28.

Clearwire also reported that its business combination with Sprint is on track to close in the fourth quarter of this year. The Sprint transaction will result in world’s largest WiMAX network operator.

The company also has been successful with its trials of mobile WiMAX, and according to Benjamin G. Wolff, chief executive officer of Clearwire, the company is now “focusing on accelerating the upgrade of our existing U.S. markets to mobile WiMAX technology.”
