DOHA (WiMAX Day). This week, the Vodafone-Qatar Foundation received an additional license to offer WiMAX services in Qatar. Following its successful win of the second fixed-line license, the telecom regulator in Qatar, ictQatar, decided that WiMAX services also should be bundled with the license.
According to a report in Gulf Times, William Fagan, executive director of ictQatar, said “Qatar is too small to have a separate WiMAX licensee.”
Grahame Maher, chief executive officer of Vodafone Qatar, confirmed in the report that “the licence includes fixed WiMAX spectrum and service rights.”
