  AT&T Inc. (AT&T) is a holding company whose subsidiaries and affiliates operate in the international communications services industry providing wireline and wireless telecommunications services and equipment. On December 29, 2006, AT&T acquired BellSouth. With the BellSouth acquisition, AT&T assumed ownership of 2.5 GHz spectrum in America. Following the merger, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) forced AT&T to divest of this spectrum, and it was sold to Clearwire in February 2007. AT&T remains a significant owner of 2.3 GHz spectrum in America.
